FTP

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a commonly used protocol for exchanging files from one computer to another over any network (such as the Internet or an intranet). There are two computers involved in an files transfer a server and a client. A system running the FTP server accepts commands from a system running an FTP client. Once connected, the client can do upload files to the server, download files from the server, manipulate or rename or delete files on the server and so on.


Follows a list of common FTP Clients divided on the bases of operating system:

  • Windows XP/2000:
   Filezilla
   FTPRush
   
  • Mac OS X 10.3
   RBrowser  (version P.4.4.1, this version will not run on any earlier versions of OSX)
  • Mac OS X 10.4
   RBrowser  (version T.4.4.1, this version is (and all Tiger versions will be) Universal      Binary)
