SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) is a secure method of trasferring files, from one computer to another over any network (such as the Internet or an intranet), because the data transfer happen in an encrypted fashion. The encryption not allow to take network configurations, user names, passwords, SFTP commands and transferred files can be "sniffed" or viewed by anyone on the same network using a packet sniffer.
